Known to millions as the “American Sniper,” Chris Kyle was the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. A Texas cowboy who grew up dreaming of becoming a Navy SEAL and serving the country he loved, Chris served four tours in Iraq and received 14 commendations for acts of heroism and meritorious service in combat. Kyle’s military service defined him as a modern day American patriot and his fearless dedication to service is part of his lasting legacy. Each year, the American Valor Foundation— established by Wayne and Deby Kyle to honor the legacy of their son—conducts the annual Chris Kyle Memorial Benefit (CKMB). Held in the Historic Ft. Worth Stockyards in TX, the CKMB is their way of continuing Chris’s efforts to help fellow veterans by keeping to his motto, “It’s our duty to serve those who serve us.” The American Valor Foundation only selects one charity to support each year, and this year they chose Smoky Mountain Service Dogs (SMSD). “We are so very grateful,” said SMSD Chair, Mike Kitchens. “The Kyle family has been a blessing to us and the veterans we serve.” In May 2017, the CKMB brought together supporters from across the country to enjoy two days of rodeo, golf tournament, live music, skeet shooting, a silent auction and dinner. The event raised $225,000 for SMSD. That substantial sum will be used to kick-off the “More Wags for Warriors” campaign to expand SMSD’s facilities. “We are thrilled for SMSD recipients and their families,” said Mike. “The Kyle family has made a difference in all of our lives by honoring us as the recipient of their foundation,” he said gratefully. “Our team will be working hard to raise the remaining funds needed to expand SMSD’s facilities so we can serve more veterans each year,” Mike added. “Thanks to the Kyle family and all of the people who supported us through the CKMB, we are well on our way.” “AMERICAN SNIPER” STILL SERVING FELLOW VETERANS The Chris Kyle Memorial Benefit Selects SMSD as 2017 Recipient “It’s our duty to serve those who serve us.” Chris Kyle - “American Sniper” Meet Wayne and Deby Kyle on October 7, 2017 at the “A Night for Patriots” event in Lenoir City, TN.
